Zo, also known as @zoenism is a huge fan of being in the Web3 space, dabbling in both NFTs and Crypto as an active member in the community.
What were you doing before Web3?
How did you get into Web3?
I’ve been buying crypto since 2017 but I only got into web3 because of NBA Top Shot. I was bored as hell during the pandemic and seeing that it was an online activity I can enjoy with my best mates from high school, it didn’t take a lot of convincing for me to give it a go.
What was your first crypto or NFT project?
An NBA Top Shot moment of Jordan Clarkson was technically my 1st NFT which I copped for $55. My 1st NFT project on Ethereum is Top Dog Beach Club (@TopDogBeachClub on Twitter).
My dog sadly passed away a month before the mint and I wanted an NFT dedicated to him. This is the only NFT that I will NEVER let go.
How would you explain what you do to someone outside of Web3?
The thing is, a lot of people outside of Web3 tend to assume that I’m someone who has found success in this whole NFT thing but that’s not actually the case. I’m definitely not an expert in crypto and blockchain tech. Whenever I’m asked what I do in here, I simply say I collect digital art and enjoy whatever comes with it.
Which creator or thought leader do you enjoy learning from?
Web3 has given me the opportunity to connect and learn from various people. I can go on and on listing my favorite web3 personalities but off the dome, Diamond Cruiser (@Diamond_Cruiser on Twitter) of DiamondNFT Supercommunity is someone I truly enjoy learning from.
What is the biggest highlight of your career so far?
I’m grateful for a lot of things Web3 has given me but that time I was able to give my family money for a new car takes the cake. I sold an NFT I minted and instantly decided to give a chunk of the profit to my family because why not? It was all just magic internet money anyway, right? LOL
What tech or crypto trend are you watching this year?
I’m not following anything in particular (mostly because I just can’t keep up lmao). I’m looking at web3 as a whole. Blockchain tech has so much potential and I’m excited to see how builders will continue to develop and utilize it to bring more value and make our lives easier.
What advice would you give someone starting out in Web3?
There’s more to Web3 than cartoon monkey pictures, scams, and magic internet money. Build your network and always be open to learning. Most importantly, always remember that there’s life outside of web3. Don’t get lost in the sauce. Oh and stay hydrated and moisturize.
If you could do a TED talk on any topic, what would it be?
Why Pork Sinigang is the best dish in the world.
What is the one thing you would bring if you were stuck on a deserted Island?
I’ll bring TWICE with me. That’s a collective so I reckon it should count as 1. Don’t kill my fantasy.
POW stands for “Proof of Work.” It is a new feature article series in The Mega Maxi to highlight the savviest builders in the Web3 space.
