Moody Owl is an NFT influencer and the founder of Doodles Mutants, a community driven project that aims to show the new era of original Doodles after the apocalypse.
💼 What were you doing before Web3?
I’m 36 years old and I live in Germany. I finished my university studies in Industrial Engineering in Turkey. For those who do not know the term, it corresponds to optimization engineering.
Since I love mathematics very much, I decided to study in this department after high school. But, after graduation, working from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. was not for me, which is why I have never worked in a corporate setting.
During my university years, when rock music was on the rise, I had a great passion for music. And at that age, I also started playing the guitar. My professional music life continued for about 10–12 years.
I completed this process with an album, many singles, and countless concerts. In addition to this, I also managed many initiatives and projects during this process. Prior to joining the NFT community, I managed a number of social media pages, particularly Twitter, and created a variety of projects for them.
🤔 How did you get into Web3?
I first met Web3 during the big crypto rises of 2015–2017. Like everyone else, I first got to know Bitcoin.
Then, in 2021, while my wife was doing an internship in the Netherlands, we learned for the first time what NFT is. And the subject was of great interest to us.
So after that, we did extensive research on what NFT is, what it isn’t, and what we can do with it.
After a while, a friend of ours made a lot of money with the NFT project. And we quickly formed a team and completed two projects.
In the process of these projects, I gathered many followers with the Moody Owl account due to my interest in Twitter, and I am here today.
🚀 What was your first crypto or NFT project?
Our first NFT project was a house project. However, unfortunately, we could not sell out, and the project failed.
Then, when the Doodle project became very famous, we made a mutant version of it. However, unfortunately, it didn’t get the attention I expected.
But while doing all this, our Twitter accounts grew faster than we expected, and we collaborated with many big projects as influencers.
🧠 How would you explain what you do to someone outside of Web3?
Together with my wife and team, we provided design support for NFT projects. This also includes Discord installation support, UX design support for their sites, and sometimes external consulting support.
Most of all, we gave influencers support on Twitter. In this process, we worked on many projects that sold out.
💡 Which creator or thought leader do you enjoy learning from?
Naval Ravikant, one of the big names in Silicon Valley, is a name I really follow in terms of entrepreneurship, philosophy of life, and investment.
But the name that has impressed me the most with his works to date is undoubtedly Leonardo da Vinci, the versatile genius of the Renaissance.
🥳 What is the biggest highlight of your career so far?
The achievements I have had in my music life and working as an influencer on almost every project in the NFT field last year were the brightest moments in my career right now.
But I am still at the very beginning of my journey. Every day I want to work more, learn more, and do my best. In that respect, as long as I’m alive, this is just the beginning.
📈 What tech or crypto trend are you watching this year?
I follow the developments in the field of artificial intelligence with real interest. As you know, ChatGPT and DALL-E are really surprising.
It seems that at the end of this process, human beings will evolve to a higher level with the help of artificial intelligence.
In the field of crypto, I also follow the developments in the fields of Ethereum and the Metaverse with interest. Blockchain technology seems to eliminate many time and cost losses.
🤝 What advice would you give someone starting out in Web3?
I advise them not to be late to jump into the Web3 world and to be very careful when investing in cryptocurrencies.
I can recommend that they do enough research on all these issues and not act on hearsay information.
🎤 If you could do a TEDtalk on any topic, what would it be?
Bottoming out is always possible, and in the beginning there is action.
🚨 What is the one thing you would bring if you were stuck on a deserted Island?
A health body. 🙂
POW stands for “Proof of Work.” It is a new feature article series in The Mega Maxi to highlight the savviest builders in the Web3 space.
