Meta David or simply, David is an MBA with experience in business development, product management, and sales in real life.
In web3, however, he is the host of the Dead NFT Artist Society podcast. Besides that, he also have a weekly newsletter called The Best of fxhash (Unofficial).
How did you get into Web3?
I’ve been in crypto since 2017. I started to get into NFTs in 2021, but it was more of a “toe in the water” type of thing. I got into Web3 in a big way in 2022; that’s when I started my podcast and newsletter.
What was your first crypto or NFT project?
The very first crypto I purchased was Bitcoin. I think I used to consider Ethereum an alt coin back then! I think my first NFT project was Slacker Duck Pond. My first artist was Sabet, and I’m still a big fan!
How would you explain what you do to someone outside of Web3?
I mostly do not even bother to explain it to them. 😊
Which creator or thought leader do you enjoy learning from?
Hmm, so many to choose from. I like Kevin Rose’s business acumen. I like Carly Reilly’s insightfulness. I like the NFTStatistics analytics approach. I like Travie’s thoughtfulness. I like EmilMTO’s energy.
What is the biggest highlight of your career so far?
So far, it’d have to be the success of my projects thus far and being selected as a speaker at NFT NYC in 2023. I met a ton of dope people! There’s nothing like connecting with people in RL.
What tech or crypto trend are you watching this year?
I’m keeping a close eye on the utility crypto-based projects bring. I think the hype meta is ending. People want something tangible.
What advice would you give someone starting out in Web3?
Go in with the intention of learning, not making money. If you do that, you’ll always have fun. If you go with the intention of making money, you’ll probably lose money and miss out on the actual technological revolution that blockchain is bringing.
If you could do a TED talk on any topic, what would it be?
It’d probably be about use cases for the blockchain.
What is the one thing you would bring if you were stuck on a deserted Island?
My mobile phone, so I can stay in contact with others. I can also use it to get rescued.
POW stands for “Proof of Work.” It is a new feature article series in The Mega Maxi to highlight the savviest builders in the Web3 space.
