💼 What were you doing before Web3?

I’m less than one year into the web3 space so still lots to learn along the way 🙂

In web2, I’m an IT Portfolio Manager for a corporate company. Prior to web3, I was actually gaming quite a lot, and also took on some official moderating gigs for a few games!

🤔 How did you get into Web3?

I’ve wanted to learn about the blockchain technology and its potential use cases for my company after a few chats with a colleague who was already into web3.

On one fateful night, I went out to drink with an ex-intern of mine (I still remember – it was during the LUNA crash and she was heavily affected by it) and… did my first on-ramp and purchase of NFTs while drunk…

🚀 What was your first crypto or NFT project?

The one I bought while drunk? GRAYCRAFT2. Never knew I could make such good decisions while drunk, because I found my web3 family there! <3

🧠 How would you explain what you do to someone outside of Web3?

When I was a degen, I would prolly say – buying and selling of digital pictures that are on the blockchain?

Nowadays I would prolly say something like… managing and growing communities born out of a shared interest for particular NFT projects, bridging the understanding between project founders and their holders and making sure both sides are well taken care off ^^

💡 Which creator or thought leader do you enjoy learning from?

Zeneca! His articles are spot-on and reinforces what I have self-discovered/self-learnt in the web3 space.

His open letter, Infinite Regret, is a good read for everyone and keeping the letter in mind helped me to manage the various kinds of stress and potential mental health issues I might’ve encountered while degening/flipping/hodling NFTs.

🥳 What is the biggest highlight of your career so far?

Woah this is a hard question haha because there’s never a mundane day in web3? But I guess maybe the day when Yonkers asked me to mod with him in The CubeMelts.

That was the start of my community building career in the space hehe and till now I am still super thankful for the opportunity despite having 0 experience.

📈 What tech or crypto trend are you watching this year?

While gamefi has been in existence since even last year, I think gaming/esports-related projects sorta really took flight this year and we are beginning to see more of such now.

Not sure whether they can cook yet, but as someone who came from gaming, it’s a joy to watch and learn! ^^

🤝 What advice would you give someone starting out in Web3?

1. Please, please, please, read up about basic wallet security! It’s always heartbreaking seeing those around me who got drained because he/she wasn’t careful when clicking the Mint button :'(

2. Always take time to reflect and take stock of your mental health state! There’s always gonna be new projects, web3’s not gonna die, so it would really suck to have burn outs when there’s still so much to explore and learn.

🎤 If you could do a TEDtalk on any topic, what would it be?

Oh my god uh… meme… making…? LOL
I mean if I have to do a non-meme one, prolly basic wallet security (but not too technical).

🚨 What is the one thing you would bring if you were stuck on a deserted Island?

Is there WIFI? Important question. If no, I’ll bring a hot guy. For, yknow, company. But if yes then probably a phone.

POW stands for “Proof of Work.” It is a new feature article series in The Mega Maxi to highlight the savviest builders in the Web3 space.
