💼 What were you doing before Web3?
Hello there! My name is Kyle Patrick and I’m currently working as a business development lead for Ambassadors.
In addition to my work in business development and community management, I also enjoy moderating various projects on the side.
Prior to my work in Web3, I was actively trading and investing in the stock market, which helped me develop a keen interest in emerging technologies and innovative financial systems.
🤔 How did you get into Web3?
I first became interested in Web3 through NBA Top Shot, as I am a big fan of basketball and the NBA.
The concept of blockchain fascinated me, and exploring Top Shot was my first real experience with Web3.
While it was initially challenging to wrap my head around the technology, I was able to navigate the space with the help of mentors, friends, colleagues, the Web3 community on Twitter, and through personal experience.
🚀 What was your first crypto or NFT project?
Basic Beasts is an NFT project built on the Flow Blockchain and it’s still thriving to this day.
Being a part of this project has been a great learning experience for me, and it has helped me to better understand the intricacies of the NFT space.
🧠 How would you explain what you do to someone outside of Web3?
When I explain what I do to someone outside of Web3, I usually open the conversation by saying that I work in the media industry.
Specifically, I work on projects that develop things like series, films, games, and books.
I then explain what makes these projects different is that they’re blockchain-enabled.
This means that we use technology like cryptocurrency and NFTs to create new, exciting ways for people to interact with the content.
As part of my role, I also manage communities around these projects, which involves engaging with fans and helping to build a sense of community around the project.
💡 Which creator or thought leader do you enjoy learning from?
The main thought leader I enjoy learning from is 6529.
While their identity remains anonymous, I find their thoughts and threads on various aspects of Web3 insightful and thought-provoking.
🥳 What is the biggest highlight of your career so far?
I have a lot of major highlights in my career so far and all of those highlights and lowlights helped impart knowledge and experience to me which made me be the person I am today.
If I were to choose only one, I think it would be being part of Ambassadors.
The people in Ambassadors are amazing and they helped connect me to various other amazing highlights of my career.
Ambassadors gave me the necessary things I needed in order to succeed, and it gave me a wealth of experience and knowledge which jump started my career in Web3.
📈 What tech or crypto trend are you watching this year?
I’ve been keeping a close eye on a variety of tech and crypto trends this year, but two things that gave me an interest are the ordinals on Bitcoin and the Web3 gaming industry.
As for Web3 gaming, I’ve been involved with some exciting projects that are making significant strides in this space, and I’m looking forward to seeing what they’ll accomplish in the coming months.
🤝 What advice would you give someone starting out in Web3?
My advice to someone starting out in web3 would be to not be afraid to ask questions or DM people you don’t know.
Reach out to project leaders or thought leaders in the space and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there.
Consistency is key, and by consistently showing up and asking questions, you can create your own luck in the space. So, keep learning, failing, and succeeding.
🎤 If you could do a TEDtalk on any topic, what would it be?
If I were to do a TED talk on any topic, I would choose to explore the intersection of A.I. and Web3.
While I may not have all the knowledge on the topic yet, I believe it’s a conversation worth having, especially with the increasing prevalence of A.I. and its potential impact on the decentralized web.
🚨 What is the one thing you would bring if you were stuck on a deserted Island?
I would definitely bring a lifetime supply of pizza with me because pizzas are life. 🍕🍕
