Top Web3 Builders That Started With Axie Infinity: How P2E Games Impacts Web3

Axie Infinity was launched in March 2018. It’s not until three years later that it became popular, changing millions of lives.

Besides that, it is through Axie Infinity and other P2E games that most people discovered the true value of NFTs and crypto and what we could benefit from them.

This discovery piqued the interest of many, prompting them to begin building in Web3. In fact, the majority of the Web3 builders that we featured in our POW series got started because of Axie Infinity.

1. Hantao Yuan

Hantao Yuan is the co-founder of QU3ST, a platform for helping people build creator communities on Web3.

He got started in Web3 by trading meme coins and NFTs. “Ownership makes sense to me for gaming,” he said.

According to him, his biggest achievement so far is starting the largest Web3 creator program with Sky Mavis, the company behind Axie.

2. Ninong Julz

Ninong Julz is the co-founder of Filipino Web3 Community Builders, a central hub for Filipinos who are into community building and development.

In March 2021, his friend Jopet Arias introduced him to the game. He was skeptical about it at first, but he heard about YGG and saw how aspiring scholars are trying to get a spot to play the game.

As a result, he tried applying for scholarships himself and started playing Axie. After that, he then explored the other opportunities in Web3 like writing Web3 news articles.

3. Kenneth Roluma

Kenneth Roluma is the CEO of Alpha PH, which is the biggest and most exclusive Alpha and Web3 community for Filipinos.

Learning about Axie Infinity sparked his interest in Web3. Besides just being a scholar, he came up with a business model to earn more money while playing the game.

I think the biggest highlight of my career so far is the success of the ALPHA PH Christmas community outreach last year. We raised a total of 51,662.93 ($944.530) worth of donations for the people of Cagayan de Oro City.”

4. Elmo Mendi

Elmo Mendi is a well-loved collab manager and Discord moderator. Besides that, he is also the co-founder of Cryptomancy DAO.

Plus, he is one of the moderators and alpha hunters of The Metro and Sushiii Dao.

Moreover, Elmo considers his biggest career achievement to be becoming a well-known collab manager and moderator in the space.

5. El Bonuan

El Bonuan, is the CEO of XOVOX Labs, a leading game development studio in the Philippines.

He first learned about P2E games when he heard about a community in Cabanatuan City that was playing games to earn a living. That blew his mind, and that game was Axie Infinity.

Surely, the idea fascinates him which led him to where he is right now. For him, being part of The Sandbox’s Game Maker Fund in Turkey back in 2021 is his biggest achievement so far.

Apollo or Paul Azarcon is the community manager for BlockchainSpace and one of the moderators for Okay Bears.

According to him, running Axie Academy and almost doubling the size of the BlockchainSpace community at the same time is his biggest accomplishment so far.

7. Papa Bii

Papa Bii is a core member and community manager of Hello Charlie, one of the most promising Filipino NFT projects.

Besides that, he is also the Division 0 community manager at Resiklos. On top of that, he is currently building something to showcase Filipino talents in Web3.

When the pandemic happened, Papa Bii decided to move his stock funds to crypto, and that’s when he heard about Axie Inifity. He learned that it is capable of helping other people through scholarship programs, so he jumped on board.

8. Miccolo Solis

Miccolo Solis is the Chief Marketing Officer of XOVOX Labs. Besides that, he is also a content creator and the YGG Lead Game Ambassador for The Sandbox.

He became interested in Web3 after watching Kookoo Crypto TV‘s Axie Infinity YouTube video in late 2020.

This led him to become one of the scholars of Kookoo, which then kickstarted his career as a content creator and Web3 professional.

9. Theo Roque

Theo Roque is the co-founder and CEO of The Howdy Studios, a Web3 focused development studio behind Honest Farmer NFT and Lil Farm Boy NFT.

He admitted that he didn’t see much value in NFTs back then, but Axie Inifity helped change his opinions about NFTs. This led him to buy Axies, which are his first ever NFTs.

10. JQ Crypto

JQ Crypto is the founder of Crypto Pinas, a group of passionate individuals interested in crypto and Web3 in general. Besides that, he is also a well-known content creator, educating thousands of people about crypto, Web3, and other tech updates.

The first NFTs he ever owned were Axies. According to him, the player economy of NFT games is so fascinating to him. That fascination led him to dive even deeper into the concept of Web3 and build CryptoPinas.

11. Beau Zabdiel Valoria aka Zab

Zab is the co-founder of Web3 Philippines, a community of Filipino Web3 developers. Besides that he is also a developer advocate for Polygon and The Graph Protocol.

He mostly spent his time trading and investing in different altcoins before he was hired as a community manager for an Axie Infinity guild.

Being with that guild made him more interested in the development and innovation side of Web3, leading him to build Web3 Philippines.

12. Jeth Ang

Jeth Ang is the COO and co-founder of BreederDAO, a Philippine-based blockchain startup specializing in breeding and crafting NFT assets and game items to be used in P2E games.

He got into crypto early, way back in 2013, but then he just dove deeper into Web3 when he started an Axie Infinity P2E guild in 2021.

Jeth and his business partners were able to help 550 Axie Inifity scholars at the peak of the P2E bull run at that time.

13. Sirius

Sirius is a passionate Web3 Advocate and the founder of The Sirius Vibes (TSV), her own Web3 podcast show and community.

She got into Web3 because of her friend, who introduced her to Axie Infinity. This led her to apply for Axie scholarships, be exposed to different Web3 communities, and discover her skills in hosting and community building, which kickstarted her Web3 career.

14. SHIKZ

SHIKZ is the founder of Dropouts, a charity mint based NFT project with a goal to build a library for a small and old school with over 300 students.

He was also introduced to Axie Infinity by his peers, which led him to start his own journey in Web3, from trading JPEGS to building dropouts.

15. Alfred Alexander Quiambao aka Posty

Alfred Quiambao, also know as Posty in Web3, is the head of engagement at the Diamond NFT Supercommunity, the biggest elite NFT group in Southeast Asia.

Posty’s friends are also the ones who introduced him to Axie Infinity. After a month of investing and playing the game, he volunteered as a community helper at the former Axies Alert PH (now YGG Alerts), where he later became a community manager.

After that, he then explore other opportunities in Web3 which led him to where he is now.

16. Fidem TV

Fidem TV is a well-known Web3 content creator and advocate. He was initially skeptical about crypto and NFTs, but it wasn’t until 2020 that he decided to transfer 80% of his funds from the stock market to USDT.

Moreover, he then converted his USDT to Ethereum and explored the world of NFTs. His first ever NFTs were Axies and he doesn’t stop in just owning them.

He founded the SFC Guild, a Axie Infinity gaming guild with the goal of educating people about cryptocurrency and NFT games. Together with other Axie managers, their guild were able to help over 400 Axie Scholars.

17. Nicco Viray

Nicco Viray is the CEO of Ark of Dreams, an NFT driven game that connects real-life experiences to the metaverse.

He also started as a crypto trader until he heard about Axie Infinity. The concept behind Axie fascinates him, so he explored Web3 and blockchain concepts until he eventually fell in love with the industry.

Now, Nicco is working with other Web2 and Web3 companies to onboard more people in the space. In fact, Ark of Dreams and Ateneo de Manila just announced that they are going to work together to start a Web3 bootcamp next month.

18. Pandapops

Pandapops is the Voxedit community manager for The Sandbox Game. Besides that, she is also a voxel artist and a NFT enthusiast.

She accidentally found out about crypto in 2019 when she wanted to start streaming and found a streaming site called DLive where many people were interested in crypto.

“Many were streaming Axie Infinity; it looked cute, so I asked how I could play it and learned about ETH and blockchain games that way,” she said.

19. Dani

Dani is the CEO of Overdrive Studios, which is a leading Esports and gaming design studio. Besides that, she is also the CCO of Metasports, a gaming and esports media house and agency.

Before Web3, Dani was focused in running Overdrive. However, her business partners, Rwargl and Joe Josue also brought her in to Metasports after they learned about Axie Infinity.

This connection has led her to meet amazing people in Web3 that kickstarted her career in the industry.

20. Bianca Azurin

Bianca Cruz-Azurin is the co-founder of ATT3ND, a Web3 community activation startup. According to her, she was exposed to crypto as early as 2017 but never really took the time to understand it or act on it.

It was like that until her friend told her about NBA Top Shot NFTs, and then Axie Infinity became so popular in the country. These led her to get hooked on NFTs and Web3 in general, and the rest is history.

Axie Infinity’s success has not only provided financial gains but has also sparked a new wave of interest in Web3 and its applications.

The game has helped a lot of people get into the world of Web3 by giving them the knowledge, experience, and connections they need to start building things and helping the Web3 ecosystem grow.

Even though the P2E ecosystem is not as active as it once was right now, we can’t deny the fact that it has made a big contribution to getting more people onto Web3.
