Ronnie Alonte Reveals Losing One Billion Pesos in Crypto
A Basag Kotse gang broke into Ronnie Alonte and Loisa Andalio’s vehicle in Bacoor, Cavite, where they had just opened a new cafe.
Ronnie said that along with the three reported stolen iPhones, one billion pesos in cryptocurrency had also been lost and were now irretrievable.
“Bangko kasi namin nandun. ‘Yung mga naka-save namin. Meron pa kaming crypto sa phone na nawala na may malaking halaga din. Kaya medyo nakakalungkot din. Ngayon wala na yung na-save namin. More or less, siguro 1B. Pag crypto mahirap kasi once na nawala, wala na talaga. So hindi na mababalik,” he admitted.
Moreover, Loisa recalled spending several hours at the police station. According to her, they stayed at the police station until 3 a.m. the next day following the incident.
“Hindi na siya nabubuksan kasi nasa cellphone talaga siya eh. Pag nawala na, kasama na yung value. Feeling ko hindi na nila makukuha kasi may password. iI-report na namin sa bangko pero pag crypto kasi baka wala na kasi. Hanggang alas-tres ata kami sa police nung time na yun na madaling araw,” she revealed.
She also said that the stolen iPhones will no longer be recovered since she thinks they were sold already. She came to that conclusion after seeing that the phone’s location pinged at the Festival Mall.
What Has Gone Wrong?
Clearly, Ronnie and Loisa weren’t prepared for this accident. To be fair, no one could have predicted that this accident would happen.
This highlights the importance of prioritizing and learning how to keep your assets safe all the time.
What has gone wrong with this is that they keep their crypto on their phones, which isn’t the best idea.
Phones are vulnerable to hacking and, in this case, being stolen.
What can you learn from Ronnie Alonte and Loisa’s experience?
Storing your digital assets on your phone poses numerous and significant risks. Therefore, if you can invest in a safer way to store your digital assets, like a ledger, DO IT.
