In the art industry, nothing stays stagnant, especially when you’re in the world of NFTs.
Artists have always pushed the creative boundaries of expressing themselves through artwork.
And because of their commendable skills and talents, Web3 has never been more open, colorful, and bullish for aspiring ones yet to join.
So, if you have just started out venturing into NFT art, then this article is for you.
THE ALPHA
Ever since the emergence of decentralized blockchain, many artists have changed their interests in how they want to handle their art.
Instead of sticking to traditions, they migrated into making NFTs because of their valuable and artist-friendly benefits, mainly:
More creator royalties
Engaging communities
Blooming market
High financial opportunities
And as more people adopt this system, it’s essential to know the latest trends and best practices that notable artists use to keep up with the pace.
That’s why we’ve gathered advice from some of the top local NFT artists to guide you and make the most out of your Web3 journey.
So, let’s begin!
ART TIPS FROM YOUR FAVORITE NFT ARTISTS
1. Marso
First, we have Marso, a well-known Filipina illustrator who slayed in local and international Web3 exhibitions with her unique geometrical artworks.
Marso’s advice to aspiring artists entering Web3 is to learn about the blockchain first to avoid potential problems from occurring.
“We have to learn to blockchain first kasi it will be overwhelming and kung hindi niyo siya aralin baka magkaroon kayo ng problems in the future. It’s better to be prepared.” Marso said in our previous TMM townhall.
Moreover, she also wants artists to enjoy, be themselves as true artists, and never be afraid to flex their talents in the space.
“Just have fun kasi in Web2, traditional, or in Web3, artist ka pa rin naman eh. It’s just a different market. Enjoy being an artist, be consistent, make new friends, don’t be scared to show yourself out there, and enjoy.” She added.
2. Lei Melendres
Next up on our list is Lei Melendres, the leading artist behind the largest blockchain-integrated mural, Ownly.
The doodle illustrator recommends aspiring artists to build their own portfolios to gain potential opportunities in the space.
“Sa totoo lang, yun yong mga struggles ng mga tao kasi iniisip nila na sayang yung effort nila ‘pag gumawa sila ng isang particular na artwork na matagal gawin kasi naisip nila na hindi sila babayaran, kumbaga magiging stock lang siya sa koleksyon. Pero, yun talaga yong parang treasure chest na mashashare mo eventually pag nagkaroon ka na ng kunting connections.” Lei stated in our previous exclusive TMM interview.
Additionally, he also advises aspiring ones to join communities and personalize their own brand as a way to gain more value from clients.
“Ang naging way ko is ang pagbuild ng personal brand. Parang Nike or Adidas, ganon, ikaw kung sino ka yun yong brand mo. Yung yong iniimprove mo eventually, yung nagawa mo na yung sarili mong logo, kunwari business cards or stickers para maintroduce mo yung sarili mo. Tapos, punta ka ng mga events at don yung ipapakita yung art mo, as a way to build your connection nadin.” He added.
3. Aswang
Lastly, let’s meet Aswang, the founder and artist behind Aswang NFT – one of the top local NFT projects in the Philippines.
He justifies and supports other artists’ advice by providing tips to mainly:
Be yourself
Talk to your collectors
Join a community of fellow artists that you can vibe with
This way, newly joined artists can expand their network and thrive in the Web3 NFT space by growing their net worth.
