Wxffles is a certified degen and a NFT collector, holding various projects and is very active in the space and the community.

 What were you doing before Web3?

I’m currently working with a TradFi company, Head of Sales, Retail and Financial Services.. Before Web3, I used to spend more time on activities like basketball, wakeboarding and weight training. I love to just chill and hang out with my friends, too!

 How did you get into Web3?

I remember one of my friends shilled NBA Topshot in one of our basketball fantasy groups, I used to collect NBA cards when I was a kid so it really piqued my interest. From there, I started reading more about NFTs and the Metaverse.

 What was your first crypto or NFT project?

My first exposure was really on Bitcoin. My first NFT Projects were NBA Topshot and Apymon (my first rug, too )

 How would you explain what you do to someone outside of Web3?

I normally start off explaining how Web1 is what we know as the Internet, Web2 are the social media platforms and Web3 is the next phase of the digital revolution. Easier to explain now with the emergence of AI but I somehow always tend use the movie “Ready Player One” as a reference when talking about Web3.

I tell them how these decentralized digital assets will soon open up a new world for all users and how owning these assets and their utilities will be the future state for generations to come. My side note is also explaining to “normies” how strong the web3 culture is and how amazing these different communities can bring people from different places together.

 Which creator or thought leader do you enjoy learning from?

There’s always Gary Vee.but I also follow the likes of 0xQuit, Foobar, Zeneca and punk6529. Found some new ones I also like such as Wale.swoosh and punk9059. These are good creators who also provide a lot of useful insights, original content and new knowledge. Locally, I wanna shout out my friend Diamond Cruiser as well, always enjoy picking his brain

 What is the biggest highlight of your career so far?

Biggest highlight is being part of the Bored Ape Yacht Club since May 2021. BAYC/Yugalabs has continuously proven that they are the leader of this space. Another highlight is how *low-key* I have launched 4 projects since I started with NFTs and how I’ve been an OG collaborator and moderator across different projects. Lastly, one really major achievement for me is how I’ve also helped several creators and NFT enthusiasts get onboarded in Web3 since 2021.

 What tech or crypto trend are you watching this year?

Gaming, Phygitals and projects connecting to AI as utility

 What advice would you give someone starting out in Web3?

Be Smart, be Patient, find a great community and have fun! Web3 has financial implications so be careful of what/how much you invest – Only use up funds you can afford to lose.

Stay calm and do not FOMO into hyped projects, this is when you get exposed to scams and hacks.. there’s always a new project that will show up tomorrow, next week or next month – you can’t have them all!

Find a great community that will help you throughout your web3 journey. This is important. This is where you learn how to grow your assets, how to secure/protect your assets, how to manage the ups and downs of web3. Most importantly, communities will help you really enjoy the space!

Sanity in Web3: How to deal with losses, fumbled bags and fomo and celebrating wins and the importance of community.

 What is the one thing you would bring if you were stuck on a deserted Island?

My phone (with unlimited battery and web access)
