POW with Web3stoop.eth
Web3stoop.eth is a Web3 Twitter Space account hosted by Tyszka_tech and friends.
What were you doing before Web3?
I’ve been into Web3 before it was called Web3. I learned about Bitcoin and built my first miner in 2012. Therefore, I’ve watched this space grow to a multi-billion dollar behemoth with the brightest minds in the world.
I never knew how big it would be, so I maintained a day job, took my eye off the ball in 2018 and now I’m here to build.
I’ve worked across industries from Road flagging to Elevator manufacturing, currently running a printing press for a national conglomerate
How did you get into Web3?
After my hiatus, I heard about Clubhouse and social audio. I hopped in a variety of rooms, mainly mental health and healing my own self, but stumbled in rooms around NFTs as well.
I remember listening to people like Drake Bell talk about these Punks, or these “Bored Apes”, and when Gary Vee announced his Book Games through his 12 and a Half book sales
Then I met some of the Veefriends he (GV) brought together and the rest is history.
What was your first crypto or NFT project?
So I haven’t founded or launched my own project yet
I was brought on as a “guerilla marketer” for a couple ICO projects in 2017-2018, and even lost access to a wallet that has roughly 5 eth of a token still
But I do have some intentions to launch something in the future…
How would you explain what you do to someone outside of Web3?
I start with saying I’m “into crypto” to gauge their response, and will then say I host a live audio call where people can learn more about this “web3” and create a comfortable atmosphere for listeners and speakers.
Which creator or thought leader do you enjoy learning from?
Well there are tons of people I have learned from over the years from Andre Antonopolus to Vitalik Buterin to Satoshi Nakamoto himself having read the Whitepapers and thought for the better part of a decade around this Space
I like to learn from everyone (even if it’s what not to do) but there are a few creators like Thread Guy and the Coffee and Captain crew that I really enjoy engaging with on a daily basis.
What is the biggest highlight of your career so far?
I think leaving a steady and stable job making elevators at a bench to move to the Bay Area, start a new career entirely and be where I am now is the biggest so far.
What tech or crypto trend are you watching this year?
I am watching what other creators, teams and projects are doing. There is a forest among the trees and we can watch from the higher vantage point
I can see steam building around gaming, especially with the likes of Sony getting on board. There has been a lot of data produced now thanks to Yuga that shows the appetite in the market.
Infrastructure and Regulation is going to be the determining factor, both national and at a global scale, for what trends we can anticipate going in the later part of the decade.
What advice would you give someone starting out in Web3?
I think we use a lot of jargon within our industry rather than learning to speak the language of the industries we want to impact.
Start at the basics, I always refer to the Bitcoin White paper, then the Ethereum White Paper (but now you can read the Vitaliks Book which is also a great place)
There is still plenty of blue oceans, so find your niche, and get to work. Once you understand the basics, and find the niche/sector you would be best suited for
Then make friends in that sector. No one person can stay on top of everything, make friends and be a good person. It’s all on the blockchain now.
If you could do a TEDtalk on any topic, what would it be?
So many things, but I think it would have to be around the power of Social Audio, and what it will mean for the next generation.
What is the one thing you would bring if you were stuck on a deserted Island?
If the deserted island has power and Wi-Fi…an iPad
POW stands for “Proof of Work.” It is a new feature article series in The Mega Maxi to highlight the savviest builders in the Web3 space.
