POW with Ryu
Ryuunator, also known as “Ryu“, is one of the moderators of Aswang Tribe. Besides that, he is also an active community member in the Web3 and NFT space.
What were you doing before Web3?
I was an Environmental Engineering student working part-time as a freelancer before I got into Web3 and I am now working as a moderator for Aswang Tribe.
How did you get into Web3?
I had an inkling of what Web3 was about because my cousin tried to get me into Axie Infinity way back in 2021 but I paid it no mind. A year later, some of my friends were trading NFTs as a pastime during the pandemic and I figured I had nothing better to do so I gave it a shot.
What was your first crypto or NFT project?
I “grinded” for a few projects but realized it just wasn’t for me and I wanted to have complete autonomy over the projects I was engaging in. First NFT project that I really felt a part of was Kopokoverse and Aswang Tribe.
How would you explain what you do to someone outside of Web3?
I just tell them I’m a “Community Manager” and that I trade digital assets on the side (lol)
Which creator or thought leader do you enjoy learning from?
Aswang has been really hands-on in helping me out with my Web3 career. I’m also an avid follower of Betty, Gigi, and JQ. I really enjoy their takes on Twitter from Web3, AI, tech, and even IRL issues.
What is the biggest highlight of your career so far?
Being a part of the Aswang Tribe team as a moderator. It opened up a lot of opportunities for me and it rekindled my passion for art.
What tech or crypto trend are you watching this year?
Really excited for AI and how it’s gonna fare as a tool for artists. I’m also looking forward to a solid VR Interaction Platform that would really take the reins in the metaverse.
What advice would you give someone starting out in Web3?
Find a community that you resonate with, do your research, and find out how you want to present yourself in the Web3 space.
If you could do a TED talk on any topic, what would it be?
“Mind, Art, and Web3: Cultivating a Healthy Relationship with Yourself and Your Creativity in the Digital World”. A TED Talk for finding your calling while also remaining true to your principles.
What is the one thing you would bring if you were stuck on a deserted Island?
A Swiss Army knife. I’d probably be able to survive with just that and my 7-year Adventist boy scout training.
POW stands for “Proof of Work.” It is a new feature article series in The Mega Maxi to highlight the savviest builders in the Web3 space.
