POW with Richwater

Meet Richwater, former Airborne Systems Specialist turned Web3 creator. Building his ecosystem with art, memes, and music.

 What were you doing before Web3?

Currently i’m building the Rich Water ecosystem. I have my current art collection of “Rich Water” which is the base for my Web3 identity.

I also have Pepeier which is my meme-based collection and my third commitment is the Deep Thought DJ project where I’m the CEO. The DTDJs are a rugged project that I’m slowly re-building into an Web3 asset.

Prior to Web3 I’ve had an extremely colorful life. My most recent job was as an Airborne Systems Specialist. I spent my days in helicopters installing and operating data and intelligence acquisition equipment for Emergency Services departments throughout Australia.

 How did you get into Web3?

I used to trade crypto for a hobby and NFTs were an attractive option for me as I could relate to them better than watching charts. It was probably a Youtube influencer that got me looking haha.

 What was your first crypto or NFT project?

Bitcoin was my introduction and the first NFTs I bought were two fake BAYC ones on Opensea… oops. I quickly learnt to that I needed to be a lot more educated in this ecosystem to avoid that happening again haha.

 How would you explain what you do to someone outside of Web3?

I sell digital pictures of bottles, cans and characters and spend my days on twitter with like-minded people. Apparently i’m ‘building’.

 Which creator or thought leader do you enjoy learning from?

That’s a great question. I learn from so many people and my focus changes a lot as our ecosystem continues to grow and throw curveballs when we try to forecast. Learning from other’s responses to change is something I pay attention to, that helps me a lot in my own battles.

 What is the biggest highlight of your career so far?

With my past career it was receiving some medals from the government for my services in fighting fires. Currently my biggest highlight is that fact i’m still here and bullish on Web3. I hoped I would still be here but i didn’t know what it would take to achieve that.

 What tech or crypto trend are you watching this year?

Seamless integration between apps and blockchain technology and how we respond and adapt to the onset of AI. The value of human ability is being questioned as AI floods our world and we’re currently in the ‘wild west’. It’s exciting and somewhat scary also.

 What advice would you give someone starting out in Web3?

Take your time, don’t ape into what people are telling you to buy and respect that everything works in cycles. You’re never too late.

If you could do a TED talk on any topic, what would it be?

Staying relevant in a young world.

 What is the one thing you would bring if you were stuck on a deserted Island?

Solar powered satellite phone. If that’s unavailable then a Swiss army knife.
