What were you doing before Web3?

Before Web3, I was an industrial engineer but quit the corporate world due to overwork. I usually work 12 hours a day and make a low salary.

So when the pandemic happened, I quit and became a freelancer as a social media manager and taught ESL to support my family and send my sister to college.

In January 2022, I got into NFTs and throughout the year I became involved in building Web3 communities such as FilipinasNFT and WEB3 Cebu.

How did you get into Web3?

I, along with my family, was hit by Typhoon Odette which resulted in losing our roof and damaging major parts of our house. Unfortunately, we also got scammed for over 100k the same month.

In order to help recover, I needed to find a new freelance gig so I had to move out for the first time to a place with internet and electricity, with only 100 pesos in my wallet. In my desperation, I applied to all available social media management jobs on Upwork, including NFT jobs, which I knew nothing about at the time.

Thankfully, on my second day of moving out, I closed my first premium client for an NFT project’s social media. This experience prompted me to learn more about the market and I immersed myself in different NFT communities. In February 2022, I co-founded FilipinasNFT, got involved in various communities and projects, and the rest, as they say, is history.

What was your first crypto or NFT project?

I was part of an international NFT project that aimed to make it a game-like experience. Unfortunately, due to market conditions, I only worked with them for two months.

What is the biggest highlight of your career so far?

My career highlight is being able to expand my network that includes influential individuals in both Web2 and Web3, leading to opportunities such as acquiring clients, hosting, moderating events, and speaking engagements.

Currently, I’m building a marketing agency to help out many talents in Web3 get the opportunity they deserve.

If you could do a TEDtalk on any topic, what would it be?

If I could do a TED Talk, that will be “Planting Seeds for Success”

Success does not happen overnight, contrary to popular belief. It takes patience, persistence, and resilience. Success comes not from jumping on popular trends, but from learning, adding value, and expanding one’s network.

Failure is a part of the road to success, but perseverance is key to achieving success. Keep planting the seeds, then reap later. Build your foundation and never give up, as the sweetness of success comes after overcoming challenges.
