POW with Papuyu

Meet Papuyu, a Web3 content creator who’s an avid player of Axie Infinity.

What were you doing before Web3?

Hi! People know me as Papuyu, it’s like an in-game nickname. I pick it from my local fish name. It sounds cute.

I’m a small Web3 content creator, specializing in games. I’m doing it full time, but I still need to grind more to get the money. Most of my time is spent in the house with my son.

Before Web3, I was an IT staffer at a furniture manufacturer’s help desk.

How did you get into Web3?

My coworker keeps bragging about his “profit” in “Bitcoin farming,” which annoys me, so I looked into blockchain.

As a true gamer, I looked into “does blockchain benefit gaming at all?” And I found Ethereum, where people can build apps on top of it.

That led me to experience Web3 through games.

What was your first crypto or NFT project?

Axie Infinity, back when it’s only an auto-battle game. I can only afford 1 Axie at that time so I then move into another game.

When I already had some ETH, I bought more Axies, but I still burned out because of gas fees.

How would you explain what you do to someone outside of Web3?

I will say, I make a video around Web3 games in which the game itself has an income potential in it.

Which creator or thought leader do you enjoy learning from?

I was mimicking Cagy back then for my content creation journey in my local language.

However, the content is not fully translated. I love Brycent and his tweets about promoting mainstream Web3 games. And Jihoz.

What is the biggest highlight of your career so far?

Axie is my biggest history. I helped over 300 people because of Axie scholarship program.  I also hosted Axie tournaments with a huge AXS prize pool from SkyMavis (AxieIndo).

Besides that, being recognized as an Indonesian Axie Content Creator is also a biggest highlight of my career for me.

What tech or crypto trend are you watching this year?

I keep an eye on any game-related crypto tech. I just love games haha.

What advice would you give someone starting out in Web3?

Read a lot, ask a lot of questions, and verify. Join crypto community, but be careful because some of them can be toxic. And keep your seed phrase safe.

If you could do a TEDtalk on any topic, what would it be?

Not sure if I can do something like that, but if I could, I want to discuss NFT and why it makes sense to apply it in a real-life use case.

What is the one thing you would bring if you were stuck on a deserted Island?

Fire, I mean a tool to make a fire.

POW stands for “Proof of Work.” It is a new feature article series in The Mega Maxi to highlight the savviest builders in the Web3 space.
