POW with Maxine

Maxine is an experienced moderator and a freelance Web3 singer/performer in NFT communities and Twitter spaces.

What were you doing before Web3?

Before Web3 and even until now, I am a college student in the field of allied medical health professions.

How did you get into Web3?

In 2021, I met and got close with friends all with the goal of financial literacy and independence.

We formed a small group, and eventually, they got into trading forex and crypto trading as well as play-to-earn games like Axie Infinity, Cryptoblades, Pegaxy, and many more.

I was literally a lurker and I just casually hang out with them. They were all playing Axie while I’m studying (LOL).

Eventually, when they went in on a particular game, I got FOMO-ed and tried to join in (PS: I did my research. Yes, DYOR guys!). That was the start of my Web3 venture.

What was your first crypto or NFT project?

My first crypto was BNB. My first NFT project (Play-to-earn) was Cryptoblades.

How would you explain what you do to someone outside of Web3?

In explaining my moderator work, I would say that I maintain a healthy environment and host mini-events in communities on the internet. I’m also an online singer, with Discord as my go-to stage.

Which creator or thought leader do you enjoy learning from?

I enjoy watching and learning from the contents of JQ Crypto, a content creator and founder of Crypto Pinas.

What is the biggest highlight of your career so far?

The biggest highlight of my career so far is being recognized, even when I am still a literal nobody in the web3 space.

What tech or crypto trend are you watching this year?

I am currently looking at DeFi and AI tech.

What advice would you give someone starting out in Web3?

Just start and do your thing. I know that just hearing the words “crypto,” “NFT,” and “Web3” might be overwhelming.

To overcome it, you just have to start and continue on, as there are lots of learning and work opportunities within the space.

If you could do a TEDtalk on any topic, what would it be?

The wonders of Web3 communities. I wanted to share my passion and experiences in building and being a part of Web3 communities.

As people from these communities come from all over the world, they are diverse and full of colors. We can learn a whole lot more from them other than technologies, and Web3 knowledge.

What is the one thing you would bring if you were stuck on a deserted Island?

A knife. If I can add another, I want some sour gummy candies too, because why not?

POW stands for “Proof of Work.” It is a new feature article series in The Mega Maxi to highlight the savviest builders in the Web3 space.
