POW with Krystelle Galano

Krystelle Galano is the co-founder of Newscall.co and CMO of project Starzz.eu and Byepix.com.

She specializes in Digital PR Marketing and has successfully promoted brand reputation through effective campaigns and media coverage.

What were you doing before Web3?

I manage and maintain relationships with media outlets and journalists to secure coverage and placements. Besides that, I monitor and analyze media coverage and social media sentiment to measure the impact of digital PR efforts.

I collaborate with other teams or influencers I know in the web3 industry to ensure consistency in messaging and help have a brand voice.

Before, I worked as a marketing advisor for various ICO projects. I am already involved in around 30+ ICO and DeFi projects, now into NFT and Web3.

I worked and still work with renowned brands, such as NewsBTC, YahooFinance, Forbes, Reuters, and Fox, among others.

My extensive experience also includes collaborations with Bloomberg, Businessweek, CNBC, and CNN, where I  crafted engaging articles with impressive conversion rates.

Through my experience and expertise it has lent me to various projects, including leading DeFi exchanges such as Probit, Bitforex, Binance, Bittrex, Kucoin, Gate.io, XT.com and many more DEX and CEX.

How did you get into Web3?

Since I’ve been in the blockchain and crypto space for almost a decade as an enthusiast, I also have some good background on some great crypto sites like ICOHolder and ICOBench. Besides that, I also actively speak at a few blockchain conferences.

Projects themselves, and with the power of those people I am connected with, recommended me. They then reached out to me to be involved as a CMO, PR Manager, or Digital Marketing Specialist for companies that are into Web3 and NFT.

Since then, I have started to learn about Web3 platforms, attend Web3 events, and explore Web3 marketing strategies, which I am an expert at. Researching and experimenting with different Web3 marketing tactics, such as community building, NFT drops, and influencer marketing, piqued my interest in learning more about Web3.

What was your first crypto or NFT project?

My first NFT project, I can say, was KatanaInu, but I worked there as an advisor only. Unlike at Byepix.com, where NFT led me to explore more and contribute more in the space according to my knowledge and capabilities from my experiences.

Now, at Starzz.eu, I have expanded my credibility and tested my skills to have wider connections and communities to increase the number of people wanting to be part of it and invest.

How would you explain what you do to someone outside of Web3?

Most of my friends and relatives ask what job I am currently working on. I started to tell them about my experience as a digital marketer and crypto-blockchain enthusiast. Then, I’ll explain and share information first about what crypto and Web3 are, which is currently a trend in this industry.

After that, I explained deeply how I work and my specialties in the marketing field, as well as how I applied these skills. I think most are actively using digital platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok.

When the pandemic came, many people lost their jobs and stayed at home. By then, people started to learn and slowly adopt the new technologies by using these platforms in business, but they didn’t know that, in simple terms, Web3 is emerging as a new and emerging technology that allows people to interact with the internet in a decentralized and more secure way.

This means that instead of relying on centralized servers and platforms, Web3 is built on a network of interconnected nodes, which allows for greater transparency, privacy, and control over personal data. I think most important of all is that you encourage them, if they are really interested in knowing, to DYOR, or do your own research, as this is the easiest way you can get to know about all things in space or in the digital world.

It actually takes time and patience, but people who have interests never get tired of learning new things because they will never know if they can also contribute and take their skills to the next level.

Which creator or thought leader do you enjoy learning from?

I enjoyed watching videos by great leaders or influencers in the space, which I kept on my own and learned from. There are many smart people inside and outside the space, but I think the leader I most enjoyed learning from is myself.

It is simply because I started from scratch in power, where every day is a learning process, and I am continuously guiding many projects for people that are looking for help to gain exposure as well as create brand awareness in the market.

What is the biggest highlight of your career so far?

I rapidly became a respected figure within the industry, amassing a wealth of experience that spans over a decade. With a keen eye for detail and unwavering determination, I think I achieved notable success in various aspects of marketing, including content and community management, digital PR, digital advertising, influencer marketing, and corporate communications.

With my expertise, I’ve been taken across the globe, from Singapore, Thailand, and Hong Kong to Russia and Dubai. As a sought-after speaker at various events, I shared my insights and knowledge with countless professionals. So, I guess one of the biggest highlights of having a digital PR career is the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and platforms to promote brands, products, and services online. A career as a digital PR marketer can be a highly rewarding and fulfilling path for those who are passionate about technology, marketing, and communications.

My achievements have not gone unnoticed. CEO Insights Asia has currently named me as one of the Top 10 CMOs from the Philippines, and Corporate Investment Times featured me on the cover of their November 2022 magazine edition as a global marketer.

Besides that, I will be awarded the title of Philippine Women Leader 2023 by the CMO Asia organization in July. I am also an esteemed member of the Asia CEO community organization, with aspirations of becoming a top CEO and empowering others in the process.

What tech or crypto trend are you watching this year?

Since my projects are into NFTs, gaming, Web3, Metaverse, and DeFI, which are mainly tech and crypto trends, I have been watching them recently.

I focused on these as, for me, it is not just about learning but also exploring, and adopting more of these can provide ideas that can help me implement strategies and execute an effective business plan for a project to achieve success.

This has the potential to transform the way we interact with digital content and could have a profound impact on industries ranging from gaming to e-commerce, especially the blockchain industry.

If you could do a TED talk on any topic, what would it be?

I think it will be “Embracing the Future of Digital Marketing: Navigating the Opportunities and Challenges in the Web3 Space”.

What is the one thing you would bring if you were stuck on a deserted Island?

I think it will be a thing that can help me survive, and that will be a knife or any sharp tool that can protect me from harm, whether from animals or people. It can also help me find ways to create fire and hunt for food, as this is a survival period in your life.

POW stands for “Proof of Work.” It is a new feature article series in The Mega Maxi to highlight the savviest builders in the Web3 space.
