POW with Kav
Kav is a Web3 mod for Fuzzy Fighters NFTs. Besides that, he is also a gamer, trader, and an art collector. He balances his passion for Web3 while studying.
What were you doing before Web3?
Before I got into Web3, I was just playing games like CSGO. That’s when I started to learn trading or selling because in-game items would cost a lot especially knives.
How did you get into Web3?
When pandemic started, I got bored and played multiple games while having online class. CSGO is what might have been the start or my journey to Web3 even though it’s not a Web3 game.
It is because I learned that I can earn money through the internet. I’ve been hearing about crypto for like a year. But I was just ignoring it until one day some friends wanted try out trading crypto so I joined them and that set me up into coming to Web3.
What was your first crypto or NFT project?
My first crypto was XRP and ETH. Honestly I don’t know what I was doing and just tried investing a small amount.
My friends and I would hop on discord and tried doing technical analysis on it. In the end we bought high and sold low.
My crypto portfolio went to 1/4 and I was just gonna hold it but I learned about Axie Infinity and that would turn out to be my first greatest investment and my first NFT project.
I owe Axie Infinity all my knowledge about Web3 because of the people I met in the community.
How would you explain what you do to someone outside of Web3?
I would say that NFTs are just like buying a shoe that is high in demand and low supply like Travis Scott’s, Pokemon Cards, and NBA Cards.
That is the simplest way I think I can explain it to people. However, I know there’s lot more to do in Web3 and it’s potential.
In games like Axie Infinity, it gives you the power to buy/sell your asset. Unlike in traditional games where only the developer of the game would have profits and people playing would be the one spending.
Which creator or thought leader do you enjoy learning from?
I think Ruthless Redge is my favorite creator but his forte is more about playing the game of Axie Infinity. I really enjoy how he analyzes the game when streaming and how chill he is. I also learned a great deal from sir Kookoo when I first started my Axie journey.
What is the biggest highlight of your career so far?
I think it would be my investment in Axie Infinity. I know a lot of people lost money but this turned out to be my best decision in my Web3 life. And also being a mod of Fuzzy Fighters created a lot or opportunity for me.
What tech or crypto trend are you watching this year?
I’m still more interested with the gaming side of Web3. So, the projects or networks I’m really watching are Arbitrum (Treasure) and Ronin.
I know how much gamers are ready to spend their money because I am one. And I know a lot of friends spend money in games they enjoy.
What advice would you give someone starting out in Web3?
My advice would be to learn as much as you can, and start building your network. The best way to do this two is to apply being a mod, community manager, or a collab manager. These positions will help you meet new people who are also doing their best to learn and people who want to build.
If you could do a TEDtalk on any topic, what would it be?
I’m not really a good speaker but I think I would talk about the power of Web3 games and the potential of making money from it.
Games are meant to be fun but imagine having fun and making money that would be the best thing for a gamer in my opinion.
What is the one thing you would bring if you were stuck on a deserted Island?
I’d say a laptop but that wouldn’t last long so I would choose a knife because I would need something to protect me and help me cut my food or stuffs.
POW stands for “Proof of Work.” It is a new feature article series in The Mega Maxi to highlight the savviest builders in the Web3 space.
