POW with JT

JT is a Filipino entrepreneur that has been running his own business for 10+ years. Besides that. he also specialize with marketing and brand building. He’s also been in the Web3 and NFT space for almost 2 years now.

What were you doing before Web3?

I am an entrepreneur from the Philippines. I specialize in marketing and brand building while running my own business for 10+ years in Web2. We specialize in importation of global known brands and products.

On the side, I’m into Web3 and NFTs for almost 2 years already. I started because of the art and the profits but eventually fell loved the communities of the projects I am a part of. That’s what made me stay in the space until now.

How did you get into Web3?

My IRL friends introduced me to NFTs back in around October 2021. Been in the space ever since and made a lot of new friends.

What was your first crypto or NFT project?

The very first NFT project which I got into was when I minted Spooky Boys Country Club. However, I just flipped it.

The first project I minted and stayed until now was Project Godjira. I have never listed my Jira ever. I loved the community of the project from the start and also the founding team/core team is very good and is really connected to the community.

How would you explain what you do to someone outside of Web3?

I collect digital tokens that have awesome art works and gives you benefits IRL and online, depending on the brand(project) that you buy.

Some have anime-like artworks, while some are 3D, but they would give benefits like discounts in real life products or services. Or access to a network of brilliant people.

Which creator or thought leader do you enjoy learning from?

I really enjoy learning from Shan of Project Godjira. He has been real and is not afraid to share his wisdom and thoughts to his community.

And they also make a lot of sense so you know what he says is not bullshit. Therefore, you learn a lot. If it wasn’t for Shan, I would have stopped in Web3 early already.

What is the biggest highlight of your career so far?

Biggest highlight was to be able to be part of the Memeland community. It was a difficult journey getting into good communities since I am just an ordinary person in Web3.

Not really an influencer, artist, or a founder. I didn’t expect to be able to get WL for Memeland a year ago and I was so happy to get it since 9gag was a big part of my childhood.

What tech or crypto trend are you watching this year?

Really watching the return of ETH and BTC back to its glory days or just even to better levels and watch the surviving projects during this bear market flourish when the bull comes around.

What advice would you give someone starting out in Web3?

Always do your research before aping into a project or minting a new project. I have lost a good amount of potential profits and eth just because I “feel” the project will do good without any legitimate research done.

If you could do a TEDtalk on any topic, what would it be?

Not giving up or getting back on your feet when you are down.

What is the one thing you would bring if you were stuck on a deserted Island?

A water filtration machine.

POW stands for “Proof of Work.” It is a new feature article series in The Mega Maxi to highlight the savviest builders in the Web3 space.
