Hantao is the Co-founder of QU3ST, a platform for helping people build creator communities in Web3, and Overtime’s official gaming team.

What were you doing before Web3?

Traditional gaming, content, esports teams, creators, a variety of different stuff within gaming.

How did you get into Web3?

Started trading meme coins, got rugged too much. Started trading NFTs, got a JPG when I got rugged. Ownership makes sense to me for gaming, spent a lot of hours playing PoE and Diablo 2.

What was your first crypto or NFT project?

Crypto was EOS or Tron lol. NFT was some rainbow hippo that is a slow rug.

How would you explain what you do to someone outside of Web3?

I work in gaming.

Which creator or thought leader do you enjoy learning from?

There’s a lot of good content in Web3, I would say the best medium that I like is Twitter spaces atm. There’s a lot of creators and thought leaders, but I can usually find them sitting in a space. For gaming, Jonah and Gabe are killing it. For general spaces, Leap and TG are also making great waves.

What is the biggest highlight of your career so far?

Every new day seems like a highlight in Web3 haha. Everything is always changing daily. Starting the biggest Web3 creator program with Sky Mavis (Axie) was pretty sick.

What tech or crypto trend are you watching this year?

Currently I have bags on Ronin, Solana, and ETH. I’m also excited about other gaming chains like Polygon, Arbitrum, and ImmutableX.

What advice would you give someone starting out in web3?

People are a lot more friendlier in Web3, just go out (not literally) and talk to people. Just be respectful and you’ll get a decent amount of value out of networking.

If you could do a TEDtalk on any topic, what would it be?

I’ll be talking at NFTNYC on Web3 creator economies. I would talk about how there’s a generational shift in content generation and we’re seeing it first hand in Web3.

What is the one thing you would bring if you were stuck on a deserted island?

Probably a satellite phone so I could listen in on some spaces while staring down dehydration and starvation.
