POW with Eli Rabadon

Eli Rabadon is the CEO & Founder of DvCode Technologies Inc. and is also a certified smart contract developer, and a cybersecurity researcher in the Web3 space.

What were you doing before Web3?

I’m a certified smart contract developer, and a cybersecurity researcher recognized by Meta/Facebook and the CEO & Founder of DvCode Technologies Inc.

Before Web3, I worked as a Research and Development Head for an IT Solutions Company at Pasig. Besides that, I also worked as an IT Consultant for Manila Bulletin Publishing Corp.

How did you get into Web3?

My first blockchain/crypto activity was way back in 2016 when buying bitcoin via Coins.ph using 7/11 was still a thing. Fast forward during the pandemic ,I was referred by one of my business partners to check out Axie Infinity and that became my turning point.

What was your first crypto or NFT project?

I remember playing games in BitKong back in 2016, and I am amazed as to this date, they are still up and running.

How would you explain what you do to someone outside of Web3?

Crypto by virtue of stablecoins, is just another wallet app where they can store their funds. Sooner or later, we might see the adoption of crypto wallets embedded in the day-to-day lives of our countrymen simply using QR as payments.

Which creator or thought leader do you enjoy learning from?

I mainly follow Dapp University, Eat The Blocks, and Nader Dabit. I learned how to develop blockchain, smart contracts through their videos.

What is the biggest highlight of your career so far?

So far, the biggest highlight for us was to be able to win the Binance BNB Chain Special GameFi Award at the Philippine Web3 Festival Hackathon and to be able to have a booth and speak during the Philippine Blockchain Week last year.

What tech or crypto trend are you watching this year?

This year I think, there will be protocols that will further utilize stablecoins rather than creating their own tokens.

What advice would you give someone starting out in Web3?

Think tokens as reward points, think NFT as vouchers, it was just saved at a stronger and much more reliant database (blockchain). Don’t be pressured as to how complex things are, because things are much simpler compared to previous years.

If you could do a TED talk on any topic, what would it be?

How DeFi and DAO will change our mindset on how we handle wealth.

What is the one thing you would bring if you were stuck on a deserted Island?

If it’s a totally deserted island, then I would bring a survival kit. But if electricity and signal is available, then I will bring my mac haha.

POW stands for “Proof of Work.” It is a new feature article series in The Mega Maxi to highlight the savviest builders in the Web3 space.
