POW with Andrew Schiffman
Andrew Schiffman, also known as Andrewuk.nft on Twitter, is the Head of Artist Relations at LGND Music. Besides that, he is also very much into the Web3 music industry.
What were you doing before Web3?
I have over 20 years of music industry experience. I started off in PR working at the first Coachella Music Festival and bands like Korn, Disturbed, Slipknot…
From there I went to MTV, and I was there for 12 years working in music programming and strategy. I got to work on every campaign from the VMAs, Movie Awards and work with some great artists from Linkin Park, Lady Gaga, The Black Keys, J. Cole, Young The Giant to name a few.
How did you get into Web3?
I first was a role at Rally.io and realized it was music partnerships for a Web3 platform.
From then I dove down the rabbit hole of living on Clubhouse for 20 hours a day, being part of the early communities at NFTs.tips.
I realized from my experience that Web3 was really the same rules but different tools for how artists can connect with their fans and now we can provide new monetization tools.
What was your first crypto or NFT project?
Unfortunately, I missed out on getting in early on Bored Apes as I was so new and still trying to set up my wallet. I have supported many friends in the space from art to music.
How would you explain what you do to someone outside of Web3?
I support artists in the music industry releasing albums, content or going to tour with new ways for them to build long term fan engagement experience allowing them to have direct access to their community and guiding them with new tools for monetization where they are the main stake holder.
Which creator or thought leader do you enjoy learning from?
I have many artists in the space that I rely on and share ideas with from Kas Vegas, Emily Lazar, Natalie Crue and Brandon David to name a few.
What is the biggest highlight of your career so far?
I have been fortunate to have consulted some great platforms from Rally.io, YellowHeart and now LGND, where I get to work with some massive artists and brands which are top secret at this moment, lol.
What tech or crypto trend are you watching this year?
Definitely AI and I’m a big fan of Augmented Reality.
What advice would you give someone starting out in Web3?
Look at your roadmap and find point to incorporated NFTs and Web3 tech. Educate yourself and insert yourself into the community on twitter spaces, ask questions. Start off small, remember less is more.
If you could do a TEDtalk on any topic, what would it be?
Music NFTs and fan engagement is actually a topic I enjoy and have spoken about this for the last 3 years at many conferences like Consensus, NFT.NYC and NFT.London
What is the one thing you would bring if you were stuck on a deserted Island?
Iphone
POW stands for “Proof of Work.” It is a new feature article series in The Mega Maxi to highlight the savviest builders in the Web3 space.
