POW with Amiel

Amiel is a certified blockchain and finance professional, dealing with Web3 finance in the space. Let’s learn more about him in this article.

What were you doing before Web3?

I’m Amiel Aganan, a licensed professional in finance, accounting, and blockchain.

Currently, I work in the finance department for Web3 start-up projects and have been in the finance industry for 3 years.

I also enjoy playing computer games and fitness.

How did you get into Web3?

It was February 2020 when I started to learn about trading stocks and that is how I managed to found an article about crypto, specifically on XRP.

I study how blockchain and crypto work, and that is when as well I started investing in crypto, but only in the year 2021 when I took it deeply and started being part of small projects as a community moderator while working as an accountant on the side.

What was your first crypto or NFT project?

My first crypto was XRP. I bought it in Coins.ph way back in 2020 before the pandemic crash.

How would you explain what you do to someone outside of Web3?

In finance and accounting, it has always been the same goal which is to ensure the profitability of the company while accurately maintaining all accounting records.

This is the same for Web2 and Web3, the only difference are the trends, metrics, and parameters. In Web3, everything seems to be new and the adaptability and flexibility in this fast-paced environment should be there.

Which creator or thought leader do you enjoy learning from?

Master Sri Akarshana, is a spiritual leader that helped me bring inner peace and see life from a different perspective. Understanding there is more in life.

Toray Kortan, for trading psychology and understanding the overall macro-micro effects.

What is the biggest highlight of your career so far?

The biggest highlight of my career was being able to get out of the finance rat-route race, which is working in big 3 firms etc.

Working in Web3 has been one of my goals since I started in 2020 and having the flexibility to work remotely at my own pace.

What tech or crypto trend are you watching this year?

AI and CBDCs, personally AI will be of help in different areas in the industry both Web2 and Web3, even in finance. CBDC, due to the ongoing banking crisis.

What advice would you give someone starting out in Web3?

Understand the tech behind Web3, blockchain has been here for more than a decade.

A basic understanding of blockchain will open these different perspectives on how big the potential is for Web3.

Take the risk and enjoy the ride.

If you could do a TEDtalk on any topic, what would it be?

Risk-Taking, I have been a natural risk-taker and this has been the main reason why I am currently here.

Many doubt why I left my corporate job for something that is risky, for me it was an opportunity rather than a risk.

The same applies to life, everything comes with a price, the risk of doing something. Since then, my proposition has always been not to be afraid to take opportunities.

What is the one thing you would bring if you were stuck on a deserted Island?

I would bring a fire starter, this is to continue moving in life. We have to keep that fire – motivation going no matter where we are.
